Creating Personalized Questions
Response piping pulls answers from previous questions to display personalized questions to respondents. By reflecting their answers in later questions, you can create more natural and personalized surveys.
Examples of Response Piping
- If a respondent enters "John Doe" in a name field, the next question can display something like "Hello, John Doe!"
- You can also re-display a previous answer to create verification questions like "Please confirm this information."
How to Set It Up
Go to the input area
On the project edit screen, place your cursor in a field title or description input.
Type the '@' symbol
When you type '@', a list of previously added questions appears below.
Select a question
Choose the question you want to reference, and the field name will be inserted as a blue tag.
Confirm in the actual survey
When the survey is displayed, the response value of that question is automatically substituted in.
- Example: For the question "Hello,
@Name field!" — if a respondent enters 'Suzy', the actual survey will show "Hello, Suzy!"
Tip
- Response piping boosts respondent engagement and creates a more personalized experience. Use it to naturally connect respondent-specific information — such as name, region, or selected service — to subsequent questions.
- Note that piping can only reference questions that already exist, so be sure to place the source question earlier in the survey.
Adding or Deleting Fields
On the project edit screen, you can add, delete, or duplicate fields to build your survey. Freely adjust field positions and structure to manage your survey more easily.
Limiting Option Selections by Quota
For multiple-choice, checkbox, and dropdown questions, you can limit how many times each option can be selected. (e.g., first-come-first-served sign-ups, capping specific choices, etc.)
